Snap Map VS Friend Map ? Snap Map Still Leading the Way?

Inspired from Snapchat’s Snap Map and looking into user’s interest, Instagram is working on a new feature called Friend Map. Its going to be Snap Map VS Friend Map?

Snap Map is a popular feature on Snapchat that lets users share their location, appear on a map, and adjust their privacy settings.

According to different platform news, Friend Map feature is recently being tested with a small group of people , so it’s not available for all users. This feature was first talked about in February. Since then, no additional details have been provided.

Snap Map has been around since 2017, and has become very famous and users loves to share Snap Maps. But Instagram’s version allows users to share text and video updates on a map that can be shared with friends and followers, while giving more importance to privacy. Unlike Snapchat, where users can make their posts public on Snap Maps, Instagram’s feature would require users to choose a specific group of people to share their location with, making it more private. The spokesperson also said that the feature would be optional and designed with safety in mind.

There aren’t many details about this feature right now, and it’s unclear if Instagram will allow public sharing in the future. Instagram had a similar feature in the past that showed posts on a map, but it was very limited in terms of privacy and didn’t allow sharing. That feature was eventually removed due to low usage. Now, Instagram is introducing a new version that offers more sharing options and aims to appeal to a wider audience.

Its obvious users will try and use Instagram’s new feature Friend Map, but it wouldn’t be easy for them to come over the craze of SnapMap feature of Snapchat.
